This is an awesome gift for your mandolin player because #1, YOU think he or she IS the world's greatest mandolin player, and #2, he or she won't actually want to wear it to jam sessions and such because it would seem a little...well, you know, like bragging, but he or she will feel the shirt SHOULD be worn because it's a gift from you, and the conflict will create all sorts of inner angst and anxiety.
